Sweets For A Sweetie

For Scooters birthday this year we didn't have a party with friends.  J and I decided that when the kiddo's turn eight their party will be with family following their baptism.  So we fired up the grill and enjoyed the afternoon with la familia.  Here are some photo's from the day.
Us before her baptism.
Happy Birthday Sweetie!
Drinks and such.
OK.. so I wanted to attempt a dessert table.  I'm no Amy Atlas (I'm slightly obsessed with her talent) but I gave it a whirl.  I think it turned out pretty swell for a very budget conscience arrangement. Here's photos…
I went a little tissue paper pom pom crazy.
Then I used left over paper chains from the midnight tea party.
I filled the table with inexpensive sweet treats.  Cupcakes, mint chocolate dipped oreo's, marshmallow pops (check out these magnificent marshmallow pops at restless risa), cream puffs, cupcake bites (thank you bakerella), and other goodies.  The kids at the party felt like they were in a sweet shoppe.
Mmmm… sugar…..
I made this tiered tray from plates and cups from good will.
The idea came from flamingo toes.
It cost me 7 bucks.
It was such a splendid day!
p.s. Did you notice I posted two days in a row...unprecedented!

I think I need you to throw me a party - what are you doing next April?? ;)

  7. SOOOO cute! I love your parties! So inspirational! And so fun to have just a great family day. What did you use for your backdrop? That's the problem I always have.

  8. Thanks all! I love doing this kind of stuff. I get all bizarrely giddy as I start planning.
I thought I'd answer Ashlee's question in the comments incase someone else was wondering as well. The backdrop is just fabric. I got it from home fabrics... for those of you in the Salt Lake valley it is off of 7200 South and just west of state street. It comes on the big round bolts and so it is 60" wide. It also was on sale for 5 dollars a yard. I think wrapping paper would work just as well. You may have to run it side by side... but it would work! Hobby Lobby has really cute patterns for great prices. Plus I don't go in unless I have one of their 40% off coupons! I also got all the white plates from Tai Pan. Each plate was about 2 bucks. I had a few already. So I spent less than 10 dollars to get what I needed there. I know I could use them for a million different things too. Hope that helps!

  9. Another beautiful party by Anj!! Great job! The tea cup display is to die for. When you say goodwill, do you mean di? I have looked for a goodwill in utah without any luck. I would love to know where one is. And...I am almost done with my own birthday chair (a shameless copy of yours). I can't wait to show you when I'm finished!

  15. Seriously everyone.... thank you so much!
    A few answers...
I did get the plates and cups at the DI;)
Rach, we set it up in front of the wall that I wrote the proclamation on.
Rafahi fam... I made most of the treats... I didn't make the cake. I ran out of time, so a local grocery store with a fantastic bakery saved me there. And the cream puffs, candy and swizzle sticks are store bought. But I handled the rest.

  18. How did you do the labels??? They are so cute!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I made the labels in photoshop with these digital stamps...

    http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=11954**

    The fonts I used are
    Zebrawood
(You can get a free one called circus from dafont.com that is similar).
    and
Sedona Script I'm not sure where I got it from. It's a free font, so you may just have to google it and find a site you are comfortable downloading it from.

    I hope that helps!

  22. Anj: the shop hop is really fun. I have never participated 100%, but my mom and sister in law have. All the wasatch front quilting stores join in and they all have shop hop discounts and activities and often have refreshments in their store, ect and they have give-aways and stuff. When I went to Material Girls, the store was packed! You'll have to look at my tooth fairy II. I made another one, and it is much cuter!

  23. Oh my goodness....words can barely describe! Seriously! These look EXACTLY like they were done by Amy Atlas. Are you kidding me? My son turns 8 in August. He wants a Scooby Doo party. Boo! How am I going to make that un-tacky? Impossible.

Maybe I'll do something classier for his baptism day. (you look awesome in that black & white dress....PS)

This is still blowing my mind. I'll stop now.
